"Poetry is what happens when nothing else can." - Charles Bukowski

In silence,
I see you.
My heart beating music,
I hope you would feel.
Words drown in my heart
Drowning deeply in silence.

Would you pull them up,
Sing them to life with a look,
Or a word,
Or a touch?

No.

This silence - an expanse of longing.
Longing so deeply,
It becomes measureless -
A dark quiet of lonely confusion.
Silence.
My soul cries out.

Silence.

The shadow of longing, a siren's bleak song
to long after someone for whom I am wrong.
To deeply love someone is to release
all selfish desire; I search inward for peace.
Until my last breath, I pray he is blessed,
and I hope that someday my heart will find rest.
This shadow of longing won't keep hold of my soul,
sun warms the heartbreak, and faith makes me whole.
